The Jed Foundation

Film Scans for Mental Health

Before I was a coach I was a professional wedding/portrait photographer. I sold everything except my film cameras. Now I shoot for fun, and for a cause! All proceeds from print purchases go to The Jed Foundation. The Jed Foundation is a non-profit organization that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for teens and young adults in the United States. JED partners with high schools and colleges to strengthen their mental health, substance misuse and suicide prevention programs and systems.

Why the Jed Foundation

Because not only have I had times of really struggling with my own mental health, Ive also lost loved ones and friends. This photo is of my brother Chris. The night we lost him, was one of the most traumatic and terrifying days of my life. And I just can't imagine what he went through that evening and I wish I could have done something to help, but I didn't know.

So many people suffer in silence. So many people are ashamed to admit that they are in this much pain. We need to normalize saying "Im not okay" when asked how we are. So much more I could say. We need more resources for anyone coping in unhealthy ways. Who feel there's no other option. We need more safe and brave spaces for anyone suffering to find someone to talk to.

"We need to NORMALIZE our struggles and imperfections because everyone goes through them"
